Ponn Jariss was a close friend of Bruin Shambrath and knew him from early childhood. He served as primary helmsman onboard the royal ship Hummingbird.

Ponn wore a pair of bracers of defense and carried a wand of magic missiles and a pouch of dust of disappearance. He also possessed a spell book.
