Hecht is the sixth planet in orbit around the sun Lanth in the crystal sphere known as Greatspace. This spherical earth body is considered the most beautiful planet in Greatspace.[1][2]

Overview[]

Considered the most beautiful of all of the planets of Greatspace, Hecht is a wild, mountainous world with the sparsest population of any of the inhabited worlds. Hecht is also very secluded and isolated from the affairs of the rest of Greatspace.[1]

Inhabitants[]

Hecht is inhabited by humans and elves who tend to live in small communities that are isolated from each other. They have a tremendous respect for the land they live on, and as such rangers and druids are held in high regard by the people of Hecht. The people themselves are a wonder, as both males and females are blessed with strikingly beautiful features. Despite their amazing physical appearance, the people of Hecht are by no means vain. On the contrary, they tend to be naive and trusting of others.[1][2]

Because Hecht is so distant and isolated from the rest of Greatspace, House Shambrath has very limited influence on the planet. The people themselves have little interest in politics and in general do not concern themselves with events occurring on other planets, including Thesalys.[2][3]

History of Hecht[]

Six hundred years before the time of Shurius Shambrath, Hecht was very different to the peaceful world it is today. Groups of savage humans lived in loosely organised bands throughout the world and warred with each other constantly. The elves lived deep within their forest homes, killing anyone who dared enter their domain.

It was then that the church of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and combat, began to preach against the incessant violence, and advocated the forming of alliances and bonds between the various settlements. At first, their ways were scorned, but the followers of Athena were strong and capable. They easily overcame the disorganized attacks made by their enemies, and as the years passed, the teaching's of Athena become more widely accepted. It is believed that the Gray Sword pirate group is composed of descendants of those inhabitants of Hecht who refused to accept the teachings of Athena and fled their homeworld as it became more and more peaceful.[4]
